About 80% of offshore wind resources are in water depths that exceed the economic limitation of fixed-bottom foundations. These resources will need to be developed with floating wind turbines. The floating technology has been adopted from the oil and gas industry and tailored for wind developers. Floating wind foundation designer Principle Power has built 9 WindFloat floaters while integrating the largest WTG available. This presentation will offer in-depth perspective from this experience.
